Problem Note 66648: Refreshing SAS® Visual Analytics reports might fail with "The report object data might be incomplete or missing" in SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office
In SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, you might encounter the following error when refreshing SAS Visual Analytics reports:
The server request returned data that is unrecognized or flawed. The report object data might be incomplete or missing. Contact your organization's SAS Visual Analytics administrator.
This error typically occurs after you update the data sources for the report that you are refreshing, and you do not save the report in the SAS Visual Analytics application after the data update.
For example, you might encounter this issue if you complete steps similar to the following:
- Upload your data source to the LASR Server.
- Create a new report with a bar chart and select Name as the category role and Sex as the group role:
- Save the report in SAS Visual Analytics.
- Add the report in SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office and save the file.
- Modify the data source and apply a filter to it so that your data source now contains only SEX=M.
- Upload the new data source to the LASR Server and replace the old one. In SAS Report Viewer, the report displays correctly. The bar chart shows only SEX=M:
- Open the Excel file that you saved previously and click Refresh. The following error occurs:
To work around this issue, use the Reset option from the overflow menu in the report pane in SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office instead of the Refresh option.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
