Problem Note 65563: You encounter performance problems when a query passed to a database does not include a WHERE clause
In Base SAS® software, a performance issue might occur when you run an SQL procedure query and the following conditions exist:
- You are running with Unicode SAS.
- You create VIEW1 in which a database table is being queried.
- You create VIEW2 in which a SAS data set is being queried.
- You create VIEW3 in which VIEW1 is being unioned with VIEW2.
- You create VIEW4 in which a database table is joined with VIEW3 in which the join criteria are based on a character variable.
- You create a data set in which VIEW4 is queried.
There are two workarounds for this issue:
- Create a table instead of VIEW3 (step where the two views were unioned together).
- Add the DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES=1 option to the LIBNAME statement.
