Problem Note 65516: HP Forest node incorrect results, or "...variable name in the DROP, KEEP, or RENAME list has never been referenced..." error
In SAS® Enterprise Miner™, a flow that contains multiple HP Forest nodes might give incorrect results. The incorrect results can occur when all of the following conditions are true for the corresponding mode. "Data node" refers to an Input Data, File Import, or SAS Code node.
Workstation mode
- You have multiple HP Forest nodes.
- The HP Forest nodes are not all connected to one data node.
Client / Server mode
- You have multiple HP Forest nodes.
- The HP Forest nodes are not all connected to one data node.
- Either of the following is true:
- EM_NUMTASKS=SINGLE.
- EM_NUMTASKS=DEFAULT and SAS/CONNECT® is not installed.
In some scenarios, there is no error or warning.

Additional details:
Each HP Forest node should use the data from the data node that is connected to the HP Forest node. However, under the conditions above, only the first HP Forest node that executes uses the correct data. The additional HP Forest nodes incorrectly use that same data.
If the first HP Forest node that executes uses different variables from the subsequent HP Forest nodes, then errors like these are displayed by the subsequent HP Forest nodes.
ERROR: The variable name in the DROP, KEEP, or RENAME list has never been referenced.
If the first HP Forest node that executes uses the same variables as the subsequent HP Forest nodes, then no errors are displayed, even though the results are incorrect.
To avoid the problem, do not use multiple data nodes when you have HP Forest nodes connected to more than one data node.
