Problem Note 64350: SAS® Studio stops responding with a "Running" window after you submit code while using a non-English locale
After you submit code in the SAS Studio code editor, a window pops up to display a "Running" status. However, the application stops responding.
For example, the following window is displayed if you are using the German (DE) locale:
Selecting Cancel in the window closes the window. Any data sets that were created from the code are available, but no results are produced.
This problem occurs when you run any code in the SAS Programmer perspective under the following conditions:
- SAS® Studio 3.7 or SAS® Studio 3.71 is using a non-English locale, such as DE, Spanish (ES), or French (FR).
- SAS Studio 3.7 is updated with Hot Fix C7W002.
- SAS Studio 3.71 is updated with Hot Fix C2L006 or Hot Fix C2L005.
The problem occurs as well in SAS® OnDemand for Academics when the application is updated by Hot Fix C7W002.
To circumvent this problem, do either of the following:
- Use the Visual Programmer perspective. Click SAS Programmer on the SAS Studio toolbar and then select Visual Programmer.
- Change the locale to the English (EN) locale by specifying ?locale=en at the end of the SAS Studio URL.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
