Problem Note 63828: A clustered middle tier can become unresponsive upon start-up
A clustered middle tier can become unresponsive upon start-up. When this problem occurs, the first node and (typically) the second node start normally. However, the third node fails intermittently, and the fourth node and beyond always fail. When the nodes fail, the start-up process stops responding, and the entire environment becomes unresponsive.
The problem occurs because of a distributed-thread deadlock in the Pivotal GemFire components of the middle tier.
