Problem Note 63344: Queries that reference DBMS user-defined functions are not sent to the database for processing via implicit pass-through
Queries that reference user-defined functions for a database management system (DBMS) are not passed down to the database for processing via implicit pass-through.
When this situation occurs, you might see the following error message in your SAS® log:
ERROR: The original SQL statement contains a UDF that is not being passed down to the database.
SQL execution is stopped.
To trigger implicit pass-through, use one of the following in your queries:
- the DISTINCT keyword
- a GROUP BY clause
- an ORDER BY clause
