Problem Note 63295: A SAS® session can stop working in a Microsoft Windows operating environment due to incorrect syntax for an %IF macro statement in open code
Starting with SAS® 9.4M5, an %IF macro statement is valid in open code.
In a Windows operating environment, however, your SAS session can stop responding because incorrect syntax is detected.
Here is an example of incorrect syntax that can cause this issue:
%if X=0 %then Y=1;
To work around this problem, use the following syntax:
%if X=0 %then %do;
Y=1;
%end;
In releases prior to SAS 9.4M5, an %IF macro statement in open code produces only a compiler error.
