Problem Note 63914: Using the OBS= option can result in long fetch times with SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Amazon Redshift
When you use the OBS= option to limit returned observations, it is possible for a select * query to be passed to the Amazon Redshift database. This issue occurs even though the OBS limitation is still honored in SAS®. This processing can cause a performance impact because it processes the entire select * query from the database perspective.
To work around this issue, you must apply an updated driver. This driver allows for the query to pass a LIMIT clause to the database, thus preventing the full table from being processed.
