Problem Note 62549: Tables registered in metadata by the METALIB procedure do not show in the Libraries listing in SAS® Enterprise Guide®
When you use the METALIB procedure to register a new table in metadata or to update metadata for a table that is already registered, the procedure fails to set the MemberType attribute for the object. The member type is left blank when it should be set to either DATA or VIEW. This problem also occurs when you use SAS® Management Console or SAS® Data Integration Studio to update the table metadata.
The problem occurs for tables that are registered from the following LIBNAME engines:
The problem can have the following effects when the library is assigned using the Metadata LIBNAME engine:
- SAS Enterprise Guide does not display the registered table in the Libraries listing.
- SAS Explorer uses the generic notepad icon in the Contents listing for the table. Double-clicking the table in SAS Explorer presents the error: No default action for the data type.
- The DATASETS procedure displays a blank value for the Member Type field.
Use one of the following methods to provide a valid value for the MemberType attribute:
- Register the table using the Register Tables Wizard in SAS Management Console or SAS Data Integration Studio.
- Manually set the member type attribute to DATA. You can do this by opening the properties for the table in SAS Management Console. Click the Advanced tab, and enter DATA in the member-type value field. Then press Enter to save the change.
