Problem Note 62483: Concurrently exporting data from SAS® Web Report Studio to XLSX creates corrupted XLSX files
When users concurrently attempt to export data from SAS Web Report Studio to XLSX, a warning similar to the following might appear:
Excel found unreadable content in '<some-xlsx-filename>'.
Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?
If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes
If the users click Yes, then the file is usually corrupted. For example, the file might be missing rows or cells. The file is usually corrupted even if the message does not appear.
This problem is more likely to occur if the tables are large. For example, one user is exporting 180,000 rows and the other user is exporting 400,000 rows. However, the problem can occur for any concurrent export that takes more than a few seconds.
Here are two workarounds for this issue:
- Export to XLS or a delimited format instead of XLSX.
- Each user can separately retry the export.
You can also upgrade to at least release 4.4_M5 where this problem does not occur.
