Problem Note 62100: Incorrect counts appear in a Select node when you select "Any value meets this criteria" from the Rule list in SAS® Customer Intelligence Studio
In SAS Customer Intelligence Studio, incorrect counts appear in a Select node when you select Any value meets this criteria from the Rule drop-down list. This problem happens when you use a Select node as a first node in a diagram that compares two data items (for example, text data items) that use the rule Any value meets this criteria, as shown below:
It is expected that each subject ID should be reflected only once in the count of a Select node, but that is not the case. The target campaign should create an audience of all contacts with an email address that matches the one in the Short Message Service (SMS) email.
This problem occurs because there are two inner joins between the underlying CONTACTS and SMS tables. The first inner join between CONTACTS and ACCOUNTS has a cardinality value of many-to-one. The second inner join between ACCOUNTS and SMS has a cardinality value of one-to-many.
The CICore log shows that the SELECT node does not contain the DISTINCT argument in line 7:
proc sql;
create table WORK.MA30 as
select
( count(*) ) as DII_1 label=''
from
(
select
table0.contactID as CONTACTID label='Contact Id'
from
DataMart.contacts table0
where
table0.contactEmail = 'equal Data Items.DataItemsSMSemail
) table1;
quit;
Without the DISTINCT argument in the SELECT statement, the software returns incorrect counts.
To work around this problem, place a Cell node before the Select node, as shown in this example:
