Problem Note 61908: Linked queries in a SAS® Studio process flow are not updated if columns are added or removed from earlier queries
If you have multiple queries in a SAS Studio process flow and a subsequent query uses the output table from an earlier query as the input table, adding or removing a column in the first query is not reflected in the input of the second query.
- If you add a column to the first query, that column is not available as part of the input table to the second query.
- If you delete a column in the first query, the second query fails and produces no output.
The output table from the first query is correct. Any data changes (adding or removing filters, and so on) are correct in both the output table from the first query and the input table for the later query.
For example, in the first query, select the columns Name and Height from the table Sashelp.Class and output to the default table, Work.Query. Use the Work.Query table as the input table to the second query, and also select both columns Name and Height. The result of the process flow is correct. Then, add the column Age to the first query and run the process flow or the first query again. This time, the problem occurs. The output table from the first query is correct. However, the input table for the second query does not include the column Age.
To circumvent the problem, delete the input table in the Query Builder for the second query and add it again. The correct columns are then available.
