Problem Note 60622: Redeploying a job using SAS® Management Console fails with the "UNKNOWN_ORIGINAL_SOURCE_FILE" error when the deployed job is defined by importing

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

The process of promoting a deployed job causes a metadata attribute for the deployed job to be removed during import. The missing attribute (SourceCode) references the file-system location of the SAS program when the job is deployed. The redeploy request uses that attribute to identify which SAS Code to deploy. When the redeploy request fails because the attribute is missing, a message similar to the following occurs:

Redeploy job dialog box

This behavior occurs only with jobs that are deployed using the Schedule Manager plug-in for SAS Management Console. You do not encounter this problem with jobs deployed with SAS® Data Integration Studio.

To address this issue, delete the deployed job. Then, there are two possible workarounds:

  • Re-import the deployed job after you apply the hot fix.
  • Use the Schedule Manager plug-in to deploy the job.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

This hot fix enables the SourceCode attribute to persist during the promotion process.

For SAS® 9.4M6 (TS1M6), complete the following steps in both Source and Target environments to update the type definition after installing the hot fix. The Upgrade Metadata feature described below surfaces this functionality.

  1. Start SAS Management Console.
  2. Connect to the metadata server as the unrestricted user (sasadm).
  3. Click the Plug-ins tab.
  4. Expand Metadata Manager.
  5. Before upgrading the metadata, run a metadata backup from the Metadata Utilities folder in this plug-in.
  6. After the backup is complete, click the Active Server.
  7. Right-click and select Upgrade Metadata.
  8. Click Yes to run the upgrade. After the upgrade has been completed, the additional library template is added into the metadata.

After you complete these steps, export the affected objects again. When you import the objects, there should be a new option available called Directory Paths, as shown below:

Import Directories

Note: You must type out the Target directory path. Clicking the ellipsis references the client machine where SAS Management Console is launched from and not the server where SASApp is located.

Complete the import and verify that the deployed job can be redeployed.
