Problem Note 60387: Using statement comments instead of block comments might cause incorrect color coding in SAS® Studio

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If you use numerous statement comments or macro style comments in the SAS Studio editor, the color coding might become incorrect.

A statement comment begins with an asterisk and ends with a semicolon. For example:

* This is a statement comment;

A macro style or statement comment is used within a macro program. It also begins with an asterisk and ends with a semicolon. For example:

%macro test;
* This is a macro statement comment;

The incorrect color coding is not permanent.

To circumvent the problem, do one of the following:

  • Save and re-open the program.
  • Use only block style comments.

A block style comment is defined by /* at the beginning and */ at the end of each line or block of multiple lines. For example:

/* This is a block comment.
It can span multiple lines. */

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue for SAS Studio Basic and SAS Studio Mid-Tier editions. Use the Downloads page to upgrade SAS Studio Single-User Edition to the latest release, including hot fixes.

The hot fix that you link to on the Hot Fix tab is the second hot fix for this issue. When selecting the hot fix to download and apply, you must match the product release in your deployment registry. If you have installed previous hot fixes to upgrade your SAS Studio release, the value in the deployment registry might be different from the information in ? ► About SAS Studio in the product. To find your product release, follow the instructions in SAS KB0036131, "Using the ViewRegistry Report and other methods to determine the SAS® 9.2 and later software releases and hot fixes that are installed," to generate a SAS Deployment Registry report. Then verify that the appropriate product releases are installed on your system. The product release number in the Registry report should match the hot fix product release number that is installed on each machine.
