Problem Note 60340: SAS® Enterprise Guide might unexpectedly stop working when entering macro variables in programs
When the autocomplete option is enabled, SAS Enterprise Guide might unexpectedly stop working when you enter the dot (.) for a macro variable in your code. For example, the problem might occur when you enter &macvar. as shown in the following sample code:

data _null_;
call symputx("&macvar.", blabla,'G');
run;
%if /*type manually: &macvar. */
Here is the error that might occur:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
