Problem Note 59558: The SAS® Cost and Profitability Management client fails to log on when the registry entry FEATURE_SSLUX feature is enabled

DetailsAboutRate It

In a Secure Sockets Layer ( SSL ) environment, the SAS Cost and Profitability Management client fails to log on when there are issues with the SSL certificates. When this problem occurs, the following error is generated

The SAS environment file 'https://sasweb/sas/sas-environment.xml' is either missing or corrupted.

The SAS Cost and Profitability Management client's API uses Microsoft Internet Explorer to communicate to the middle tier. In an SSL environment, when an HTTP call occurs, the client cannot react to the warning pop-up messages in the browser because it is a thick client. As a result, the error shown above is generated.

As a workaround,  add the SAS Cost and Profitability client's executable file sasabm.exe to the registry entry FEATURE_SSLUX. By default, FEATURE_SSLUX is enabled for Internet Explorer 7.0 and later. Adding the executable file to the registry, as shown below, disables this feature.

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (or HKEY_CURRENT_USER)
      SOFTWARE
         Microsoft
            Internet Explorer
               Main
                  FeatureControl
                     FEATURE_DOWNLOAD_PROMPT_META_CONTROL
                        sasabm.exe = (DWORD) 00000001

For additional details about the FEATURE_SSLUX registry entry, see "Internet Feature Controls (S..T) on the Microsoft Developer Network at msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee330735(v=vs.85).aspx.
