Problem Note 59368: In SAS® Federation Server Manager, the SQL log does not report actions (such as insert, update, and delete) run with PROC SQL against a SAS® data set
In SAS Federation Server Manager 4.2, when you perform an action (such as insert, update, or delete) using the SQL procedure, the action is not reported in the SQL log even though it executes successfully. For example, you might encounter the problem if you perform steps similar to the following:
- Run the following SAS job (substituting connection values as appropriate):
libname fedtest fedsvr server=my-server port=24141 uid=sasfedadm@saspw
pwd=password dsn=base;
data fedtest.class;
set sashelp.class;
run;
data inserts;
set fedtest.class;
if _n_=1;
name='Bob';
age=14;
height=65;
weight=80;
sex='M';
run;
proc sql;
insert into fedtest.class (name, sex, age, height, weight)
select name, sex, age, height, weight from inserts;
quit;
- Check the SQL log. The SQL log should report that some number of rows/bytes were inserted into the Class table, but it indicates that 0 rows/bytes were inserted.
-
Open the Console window in SAS Federation Server Manager and connect to the SQL_LOG data source name (DSN). To reference data for the row added from the PROC SQL step in the job above, issue the following query:
select * from events where rows_inserted = 1;
One row is returned and the transaction name is BulkOperations. The record indicates that one row was added.
This example shows that the action is successful but that the log does not report that action.
