Problem Note 59874: Queries using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Netezza take a long time to complete
A query accessing Netezza tables might take longer to complete than the same query accessing the same data in a DB2 database.
Internally, SAS/ACCESS Interface to Netezza does not make a call to obtain a row-count estimate for each table. SAS/ACCESS® Interface to DB2 does make the call for a row-count estimate, and then uses the count estimates when creating the SQL optimizer execution plan. This behavior results in the SAS/ACCESS Interface to DB2 SQL procedure having a different optimizer plan and faster execution times than SAS/ACCESS Interface to Netezza.
To work around this issue, SAS/ACCESS Interface to Netezza users should create SAS data sets, and then perform any joins on those data sets rather than using Netezza tables.
