PROC X12 and PROC X13 write incorrect variable names to the OUT= data set when running SAS^® software in the French locale. No error or warning messages are generated, but a PROC PRINT or PROC CONTENTS of the OUT= data set reveals the unexpected variable names.

For example, if you run the code below in the French locale, then the OUT= data set contains the variables, AIR_A1, AIR_D13, AIR_D11F, AIR_E1, and AIR_E2:

The expected variables, based on the tables requested in the OUTPUT statement, are AIR_A1, AIR_D10, AIR_D11, AIR_D12, and AIR_D13.
