Problem Note 57386: Nodes appear to continue processing even when a campaign that contains Link and Prioritize nodes appears to execute successfully

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you execute a SAS® Customer Intelligence campaign that contains a Prioritize node with an upstream Link node, the campaign seems to execute and a message displays stating that the campaign executed successfully. However, each node in the diagram still seems to continue processing, and the counts are never returned.

Then, the campaign might close without displaying any error messages, even though the nodes still seem to be active. When you re-open the campaign, there are no counts on the nodes.

If you view the SASCustIntelCore6.x.log file, you will see an error similar to the following:

2015-10-30 12:39:34,030 DEBUG [CIAsyncExec-10] 2015-10-30 12:39:34,057 ERROR[CIAsyncExec-10][d69b2cc913c1483c:-27daea8d:150b5dc651c:-30ea] [sasdemo]analytics.crm.flow.ForkCampCommExecution - Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sas.analytics.crm.flow.MAPrioritizeNode.getMemberTableDescriptor(MAPrioritizeNode.java:816) at com.sas.analytics.crm.flow.MACellNode.run(MACellNode.java:129) at com.sas.analytics.crm.flow.MAFlow.executeNode(MAFlow.java:1334) at com.sas.analytics.crm.flow.MAFlow.createTaskSequence(MAFlow.java:2298) at com.sas.analytics.crm.flow.MAFlow.createListofTaskSequences(MAFlow.java:2339)

This behavior occurs when you have the following:

  • You have a Prioritize node that has two or more input nodes.
  • One of the input nodes has, upstream from it, a Cell node from a link node. That Cell node is not the first-priority cell chosen in the Prioritize node.

To work around this issue:

  • Ensure that the linked Cell node is the first priority chosen in the Prioritize node.
  • Ensure that the linked Cell node is the only Cell node in the Prioritize node, as shown below.
