Problem Note 57042: An ORDER BY clause in a PROC SQL statement is ignored in rare cases
In rare cases when you select and group aggregate functions in an SQL procedure, the result set is not ordered as expected.
The following example demonstrates the problem:
PROC SQL;
CREATE TABLE result as
SELECT
MIN(table0.age) ,
table0.sex ,
SUM(table0.height) ,
table0.name
FROM
sashelp.class table0
GROUP BY
PUT(table0.age,? 4.),
2,
4
ORDER BY
table0.name ASC ;
QUIT;
After this code is run, the result table is not sorted by the NAME column as instructed.
To obtain the desired sort order, perform a SORT procedure after you run PROC SQL.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
In rare cases, when you select and group aggregate functions in PROC SQL, an ORDER BY clause might be ignored, leading to a result set not being ordered as expected.
