Problem Note 57485: When you attempt to read data from a Hive view, "YP Subsystem" and "UNABLE TO ACCESS MESSAGE 828.1248" errors occur in SAS® Enterprise Guide®
The following errors might occur in SAS Enterprise Guide when you attempt to read data from a Hive view.
ERROR: Critical YP Subsystem error opening message library.
ERROR: ERROR: UNABLE TO ACCESS MESSAGE 828.1248
How you handle this issue depends on which release of SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Hadoop you are running. If you are unsure, execute the SAS Installation Qualification Tool (SAS IQ) to determine the exact version that is installed at your site. The following example shows results for the 9.41 version of the SAS/ACCESS product.
Host: lax
Product: hadoop
Version: 9.41
Display Name: SAS/ACCESS Interface to Hadoop
Display Version: 9.41
If you are running 9.41, proceed to the section "Workaround for SAS 9.41," below.
If you are running SAS® 9.4 TS1M2, ship event 08w15 or later, and you encounter these errors, apply Hot Fix S64002.
Workaround for SAS 9.41
Which of the following workarounds you use depends on whether the Hadoop LIBNAME statement is configured to be pre-assigned in SAS® Management Console.
- If the Hadoop LIBNAME statement is configured to be pre-assigned in SAS Management Console, add the following option to the sasv9_usermods.cfg file for your SAS Applications Server.
-set SAS_HADOOP_DISABLE_VIEW_OPTIMIZE "DISABLE"
- If it is not, then add the following option before the Hadoop LIBNAME statement.
options set=SAS_HADOOP_DISABLE_VIEW_OPTIMIZE="DISABLE";
Note: Later, if you install the hot fix or migrate to a later release of SAS, you must remove this option.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
