SAS Technical Support frequently requires certain information about the system environment in order to assist users of SAS Data Management software. There is a data job that you can use to create a report that contains the required information.

Follow the steps below to obtain and run the data job:

1. Download the dfSystemInfo.zip file from the Downloads tab of this SAS Note and save it to disk.
2. Decompress dfSystemInfo.zip and extract the dfSystemInfo.dpf file.
3. Open the SAS Data Management Studio application.
4. Click the Folders riser in the lower left corner of the window.
5. Navigate to a folder on the left-side navigation tree.
6. Right-click the folder, and select Import. An Import dialog box opens.
7. Click Browse. An Open dialog box opens.
8. Navigate to the location where the dfSystemInfo.dpf file was saved, and select the dfSystemInfo.dpf file.
9. Click Open. The Open dialog box closes and returns you to the Import dialog box with a file name filled in.
10. Click Next.
11. Ensure that the dfSystemInfo job is selected and click Import.
12. Navigate to the folder where you saved the job and double-click the dfSystemInfo job to open the job.
13. Select Run Data Job from the Actions menu to run the job under SAS Data Management Studio, or select Run as Batch Job on Management Server... to run the job on a connected SAS Data Management Server.

The data job creates a small text file as output. The exact location of the output file is noted in the job log for the dfSystemInfo job.
