Usage Note 56670: Installing hot fixes on the SAS® web tier overwrites manual changes to the sas.conf file after web applications are rebuilt and redeployed

DetailsAboutRate It

When you configure the web tier for SAS® solutions, it is sometimes necessary to make changes to the sas.conf file that resides in the SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Web/WebServer/conf/ directory. For example, you might need to make changes in sas.conf (for example, changing http:// to https://) to enable Transport Layer Security (TLS), which is a successor protocol to SSL.

However, after you install a web-tier hot fix on the middle tier, you need to rebuild and redeploy the web applications. This action, in turn, rebuilds SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Web/WebServer/conf/sas.conf and overwrites any manual changes that you made (for example, enabling TLS /SSL).

Before you install the hot fix, be sure to create a backup copy of SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Web/WebServer/conf/sas.conf. After the hot fix is installed and the web applications are rebuilt and redeployed, do the following:

  1. Stop the web application server.
  2. Add the changes back into the sas.conf file.
  3. Restart the web application server.
