The validation and notes sections in the Instructions.html file for the SAS Deployment Backup and Recovery Tool have changed. The Instructions.html file will be updated to include these changes in a future release of SAS^® software. In the meantime, use the validation steps and notes found here.

Validation Steps

1. Launch the SAS^® Environment Manager.
2. Log on using the sasadm@saspw credentials specified during configuration.
3. Press and hold the Ctrl key while you click Administration in the menu bar to open SAS Environment Manager Administration.
4. When the SAS Environment Manager Administration window appears, maximize the window.
5. Click the Side Menu icon in the SAS Environment Manager banner and select SAS Backup Manager.
Note: The SAS^® Backup Manager takes several minutes to discover the assets in your deployment that are available for backup.
6. When the SAS Backup Manager opens, select Schedule from the drop-down menu.
7. Verify the default schedule.

Notes

• To register additional directories for backup, run the sas-update-backup-config command. To specify a custom directory, use the -sourcetype option. Here is an example: sas-update-backup-config -sourcetype customdir
• To use the SAS Deployment Backup tool in a heterogeneous environment where the content server is clustered, it is required that you enable backup at a central vault location. Follow the steps in "Specifying a Central Vault Location in a Heterogeneous Operating System Environment" in the SAS^® Intelligence Platform: System Administration Guide on the SAS^® Intelligence Platform documentation page. (A heterogeneous environment is one in which the host machines that are included in the backup are in different operating system families.)
