Problem Note 55512: SAS® functions do not change the case of characters from uppercase to lowercase
When you use the following functions to convert the Turkish character "I" to lowercase "i," the functions might not work as expected. The case does not change.
- PROPCASE
- KPROPCASE
- LOWCASE
- KLOWCASE
For the KPROPCASE, LOWCASE, and KLOWCASE Functions
For these three functions, the issue is fixed in SAS® 9.4M3.
For the PROPCASE Function
The hot fix in this note fixes the issue for the PROPCASE function. You must use the Turkish locale in the SAS session. To set Turkish locale, run the following SAS code in your SAS session:
options locale=Turkish;

The Turkish character "I" remains uppercase even after you use a function to change the character to lowercase "i."
