Problem Note 54432: Using OBS=1 in an INFILE or FILE statement with the FILENAME FTP file results in an FTP server return code 451 and SAS® return code 8
If you use OBS=1 in an INFILE or FILE statement with the FILENAME FTP file, a problem will occur if the following three things are true:
- You specified OBS=1 in an INFILE or FILE statement
- The associated FILENAME statement specifies the FTP engine
- The DEBUG parameter is set in the FILENAME statement
If all of the above are true, the message "451 Transfer aborted" appears in the SAS log and the SAS return code is set to 8. This is incorrect. The SAS return code should be 0 when you use the option OBS=1.
This problem was introduced by the initial fix documented in SAS Note 53914: "Using the FILEREF and FEXIST functions with a FILENAME FTP data set in SAS® 9.4 might return incorrect values."
