Problem Note 53953: Errors might occur when you connect to a server with SAS® clients and programs that use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

Errors can occur when you try to connect to a server with SAS clients and programs that use SSL. If an error does occur, you might receive one of the following messages in the SAS log:

ERROR: Unable to contact the LDAP server.

ERROR: Invalid reply received from the HTTP server. Use the debug option for more info.

Other messages are possible also dependent on the client or program that uses SSL.

If you have trace-level logging enabled for the the App.tk.eam.ssl logger, the following messages are generated prior to the connection error:

decode: Not enough data for SSL header, returning and waiting for more.
decode: no output, need more data - runtime error
decode: Exit, status=0x807ff008, outlen=0, ctrllen=0.

These error messages result from run–time errors that occur in partial-packets handling in the SSL header. The errors are possible in all SAS software products or components that use SSL, including SAS/CONNECT® software, the LDAP CALL Routine Interface, and the FILENAME statement URL access method.

There is no circumvention for this problem if an SSL connection is required. This problem does not occur for connections to the same server that do not require SSL.
