Problem Note 52663: Katakana characters are not generated when you use the KANA option with the KCVT function to convert a KANA string in SAS® 9.4

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you run the KCVT function with the KANA option in SAS 9.4, the KANA string is not converted correctly.

For example, you run the following code:

data test; x='c1c2c3c4c58182838485'x; y=kcvt(x,'ibm','sjis','KANA'); z=kcvt(x,'ibm','sjis'); put x= y= z= ; run;

The result that occurs is as follows:

x=チツテトナ≠ヤ・y=ABCDEabcde z=ABCDEabcde

Notice that the katakana characters for y have not been generated. If the katakana characters were generated, the result would look like this:

x=チツテトナ≠ヤ・y=ABCDEアイウエオ z=ABCDEabcde

This problem does not occur in SAS 9.3.
