Problem Note 52274: The option to use the e-mail spooler is not available in SAS® Digital Marketing Studio

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

In SAS Digital Marketing Studio, the option to use the e-mail spooler is not available to choose. You can find this option by selecting Tools ► Server Configuration ► Send Options. When you try to add a spooler on the Advanced tab, the SMTP Provider drop-down menu does not offer you the CRP:com.sas.email.send.SpoolTransportProxy option.

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Add \spool and \pending folders to the ..\config\Lev1\Applications\SASCustomerIntelligence\SASDigitalMarketing directory, if they are not already present.
  2. In SAS Digital Marketing Studio, select Tools ► Server Configuration ► Advanced Server Properties. Ensure that the property sem.spooler.skip_sending is selected and set to false.
  3. Make a backup copy of the config.xml file from this location: ..\config\Lev1\Applications\SASCustomerIntelligence\SASDigitalMarketing\etc\
  4. Using a suitable text editor, update the original config.xml file from this location: ..\config\Lev1\Applications\SASCustomerIntelligence\SASDigitalMarketing\etc\. Ensure that the sem.provider value is changed to the SpoolTransportProxy. For example, locate the following:

    <property name="sem.provider" value="com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport"/>

    Make the change as follows:

    <property name="sem.provider" value="com.sas.email.send.SpoolTransportProxy"/>

  5. Restart the SAS Digital Marketing server.

    E-mails that are generated from broadcasts will now be sent to the spooler, in the \spool directory that you created, before being sent out to the SMTP server.
