Problem Note 52585: SAS/ACCESS® Interface to PostgreSQL might require the use of the driver setting "UseServerSidePrepare" to improve query performance
If you are experiencing slow queries when using SAS/ACCESS Interface to PostgreSQL, you might be able to enhance performance by setting the driver option UseServerSidePrepare.
When it is enabled, the driver uses the PREPARE and EXECUTE commands to implement the Prepare/Execute model in PostgreSQL, which can result in better performance.
There are two methods of enabling this option.
- Use a data source name (DSN) to assign your PostgreSQL library.
- For UNIX systems: Use a DSN to assign your PostgreSQL library. Under your DSN entry, set UseServerSidePrepare=1 in the odbc.ini file.
-
For Windows systems: Use a DSN to assign your PostgreSQL library. Check the box UseServerSidePrepare in the ODBC Administrator on the Advanced Options panel.
- Or use the LIBNAME option CONOPTS to supply the UseServerSidePrepare setting to the driver.
Example:
libname myconn postgres server="postgres.unx.com" database=Postgres
port=5432 user=myuser password=mypasswd conopts="UseServerSidePrepare=1";
