Problem Note 51650: Ship and Expand method might generate “Error While Executing Apply Methods"
In SAS® Merchandise Allocation, opening a worksheet that uses the Ship and Expand method where the parent minimum is defined might generate the following error:
Error While Executing Apply Methods
This problem occurs due how the system manages the minimum allocation. The system looks at the minimum allocation and determines that every store receives minimum amount defined at the very least. In certain situations, the store count multiplied by allocation minimum exceeds the ship quantity. The error is generated when the store count multiplied by allocation minimum exceeds the ship quantity.
Below are the steps that the system follows when opening a worksheet with a defined parent minimum value:
-
Allocate minimum value to each store.
-
During the rounding and balancing stage, the system does not take into account ship quantity because normally the worksheet opens and you decide which store(s) do not receive any product.
-
At the end of the rounding and balancing stage, the system initiates the Parent Min/Max and reduces the number of stores and process. At this point, the system watches the allocation amount and the available amount might be a negative value, which results in the error above.
There is no workaround for this issue.
