Problem Note 50801: Implicit pass-through processing might be disabled, resulting in performance issues

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

A performance issue might occur when you run a query under the following conditions:

  • A LIBNAME statement is used to access the database management system (DBMS) tables.
  • DISTINCT is specified in the outermost SELECT clause.
  • The query contains at least one inline view.

SAS® does not pass the query down to the DBMS. Instead, it pulls the data into SAS and does the processing of the query. This might result in the query taking longer to complete than if the entire query had been passed to the DBMS to be processed there.

To work around this issue, either break the query into multiple steps or use explicit pass-through processing.
