Problem Note 50342: "Floating Point Exception" and "Invalid Operation" errors occur when you export exponential numbers to XLSX files using the XLSX driver
Invalid operation and floating-point exception errors might occur when you export exponential numbers to an XLSX file using DBMS=XLSX. The following log shows the symptoms of the issue:
proc export data=test.sample1
outfile='c:\mydata\mynewdriverexp.xlsx'
dbms=xlsx replace;
run;
ERROR: Invalid Operation.
ERROR: Termination due to Floating Point Exception
To circumvent the problem, use either DBMS=EXCEL driver or DBMS=EXCELCS driver, depending on your platform. Which you choose depends on the combination of the platform and the bit architecture of Excel.
Use DBMS=EXCELCS if you have either of the following combinations of operating system and Microsoft office:
- If SAS is running on a UNIX operating system
- If SAS is running on a 64-bit Windows operating system and you have a 32-bit version of Office
Use DBMS=EXCEL if you have either of the following combinations of operating system and Microsoft office:
- If SAS is running on a 64-bit Windows operating system and you have a 64-bit version of Office
- If SAS is running on a 32-bit Windows operating system and you have a 32-bit version of Office
