In SAS Digital Marketing, you can throttle e-mails for domains (for example, yahoo.com) in order to slow down the sending of the e-mails. When the SAS Digital Marketing Throttle Manager is used, those e-mails might fail to be delivered. The failure is caused when the SMTP server that is being used to send out the e-mails does not use authentication.
You might see the following error in the SAS Digital Marketing wrapper.log file:
javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: No authentication mechansims supported by both server and client at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.protocolConnect(SMTPTransport.java:590) at javax.mail.Service.connect(Service.java:313) at javax.mail.Service.connect(Service.java:172) at com.sas.email.send.ThrottleManager.initTransports(ThrottleManager.java:458) at com.sas.email.send.ThrottleManager.getMessage(ThrottleManager.java:170) at com.sas.email.send.ThrottleManager.run(ThrottleManager.java:270)
To work around this problem, enable authentication on the SMTP server.
