Problem Note 49202: The opt-out table is not being updated with the e-mail addresses from hard bounce notifications

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

The SAS® Digital Marketing Reply Manager might be configured to register hard bounces as e-mail addresses that have opted out of receiving communications. However, if the mail server that delivers the hard bounce notification e-mails has verbose logging activated, this functionality might not work. The e-mail addresses are not added to the opt-out table and might be included in future broadcasts.

The bounce notification e-mail contains the e-mail address that bounced (for example, unknown.name@unknowndomain.com).

However, the mail server's verbose logging adds a prefix to the bounced e-mail addresses with debugging information such as "RFC822:". This causes the e-mail address to be rendered as "RFC822:unknown.name@unknowndomain.com". The SAS Digital Marketing Reply Manager parser copies the whole address to both the replies and opt-out tables.

To work around this behavior, develop ETL to process the replies and opt-out tables and remove the prefix from the e-mail addresses that have them.
