Problem Note 46076: Problems occur when you submit SAS® code to an OLE Automation Server when the code contains embedded CRLF (newline) characters
Problems can occur when you submit SAS code to an OLE Automation Server when the code contains embedded CRLF (newline) characters. When SAS encounters an embedded CRLF character string, it also submits the next character in the code as well, which can cause errors. For example, suppose that you have a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with Visual Basic code that connects to an OLE Automation Server. The spreadsheet submits code from a cell that contains the following code, each line of which starts in column 1 of the cell and ends with CRLF characters:
SAS successfully submits the first line. However, instead of stopping there, it continues and submits one character from the next line; in this case, the "r" from the RUN statement. The following error message then occurs:
1 data;r

ERROR 180-322: Statement is not valid or it is used out of proper order.
