In SAS® Data Integration Studio 4.21, the following error might occur when the collating sequences between SAS® and the target DMBS server are different:

ERROR: BY variables are not properly sorted on data set LIBREF.TARGETTABLE.

Applying the hot fix adds the ability to sort target table records in SAS before you create the temporary cross-reference table.

In order to fully apply the hot fix, you also have to set the SORTPGM option to either SAS or HOST. The SAS or HOST sort will assure that the correct collating sequence is used.
