Problem Note 45774: When SAS® Digital Marketing uses RMI CustomSocketFactory port connectivity, the SAS® Digital Marketing client and server cannot connect to each other

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS Digital Marketing enables you to control the ports that are used for the connection between SAS Digital Marketing clients and servers by setting Custom Socket Factory RMI settings. These settings are typically used when there is a firewall sited between the clients and the server. However, SAS Digital Marketing does not use these Custom Socket Factory RMI settings correctly for connections between the SAS Digital Marketing Server and its clients. Instead, the SAS Digital Marketing Server attempts to use any ephemeral port that is available. These ephemeral ports are not typically opened in a firewall. This connection attempt results in an error similar to the following:

java.rmi.RemoteException: Connection refused to host: HOSTNAME.UK; nested exception is:
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect
    at com.sas.email.rmi.BulkEmailClientConnectionFactory.getServerConnection(BulkEmailClientConnectionFactory.java:261)
