Problem Note 45125: SAS_PUT UDF running concurrently in unprotected mode can cause the Teradata server to stop working

Running two concurrent queries on Teradata with the SAS_PUT or other UDF in unprotected mode can cause memory to become corrupted. These queries interfere with one another and corrupt memory, which puts the SAS code into an infinite loop. This loop causes the Teradata system to remain at 100% CPU usage until the database is shut down. The Teradata server must be shut down because Teradata does not have a way to interrupt the SAS code that is looping. There is a known problem with Teradata not being able to interrupt a runaway UDF.

A workaround is to use protected mode when running queries with UDFs.
