Problem Note 44582: The SAS® Download Manager might fail on a slow Internet connection

DetailsAboutRate It

When the Internet connection being used by the SAS Download Manager is very slow, the download might fail. With a very slow connection, the failure might occur at the beginning of the download, on some of the very small files being downloaded.

The resulting SDW.log file might contain a warning and a "severe" message as shown below. The warning message is an explanation of what is thought to be the issue. Although the warning says "virus scanning proxy suspected," the real problem is the slow Internet connection, which leads to a time-out.

WARNING: Socket Timeout Exception with 0 bytes transfered: Virus scanning proxy suspected--increasing timeout to:2

SEVERE: Read timed out

If you have an extremely slow Internet connection and get the message in the SDW.log, contact SAS Technical Support for more information. Be prepared to send the SDW.log.
