Usage Note 43663: An error occurs when you submit a job from a SAS® session to a grid that is configured by Microsoft Windows operating environments

DetailsAboutRate It

When you submit a job from the SAS session to a grid that is configured by Microsoft Windows, you might receive the following error:

ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.
ERROR: Could not start grid job or grid job failed.
ERROR:
PROVIDER(Platform):  Failed to get user password;

The problem occurs because of the account that is used to start the SAS process on the grid nodes. To start a SAS session on the grid node, the Platform LSF load sharing facility must use passwords that are registered through a Platform LSF lspasswd command. This registration is necessary so that Platform LSF can correctly start processes on a user's behalf. For example, if a client SAS session is logged on using the credentials my-domain\user-ID, then the password for my-domain\user-ID, must be registered in an lspasswd command.

To use the lspasswd command to register a password, perform these steps:

  1. Log on as the LSF administrator.
  2. From a command prompt on any machine that is in the grid, submit the lspasswd command.
  3. When you are prompted, enter the password that you want to register.
