Installation Note 38936: The order you are attempting to add cannot be included in an existing SAS Software Depot

If you attempt to add an order to an existing non-standard SAS Software Depot you will receive the following error message per the screenshot.

     The order you are attempting to add cannot be included in an existing  SAS Software Depot 

Specify a different directory.

It is not possible to add an order to a client user's image or a personal user's depot.

To resolve this error message, create a new client user's image or a personal user's depot for the order in question.

Adding a new order to an existing personal user's depot for maintenance
If you are attempting to add a new order to an existing personal user's depot with the intent of applying maintenance to your existing personal user's deployment, do the following:

  1. From your new order that contains maintanence, create a new personal user's depot.
  2. Launch setup.exe from the new personal user's depot and deploy maintenance to your existing installation.

Adding a new order to an existing client user's image for maintenance
If you are attempting to add a new order to an existing client user's image with the intent of applying maintenance to your existing client user's deployment, then this is not possible for applying maintenance versions SAS 9.2 (TS2M2) and SAS 9.2 (TS2M3).

Instead, do the following:

  1. From your new order that contains maintanence, create a new client user's image in a separate folder on the remote machine.
  2. Uninstall all SAS 9.2 products from the client workstation.
  3. From each workstation, launch setup.exe from the new client user's image.
Instead of using the client user's image to install a client user's installation, install a complete local copy of SAS on each workstation.
