If you open a SAS V5 Transport file in the SAS Universal Viewer, and the file contains numeric variables that have a length less than 8 bytes, the values for those variables might display incorrectly. However, if you create a data set from this same SAS V5 Transport file and then open the data set in the SAS Universal Viewer, the values are correct.
By comparison, if you open this SAS V5 Transport file in the SAS System Viewer or in the SAS ViewTable, values for the numeric variables read correctly whether you view them in a SAS V5 Transport file or in a SAS data set.
