In the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, when running a task with a table name that has more than 26 characters, you might see the following exception:
"Task name" completed with errors
When you view the log associated with the task error, you will see the following error message:
ERROR 65-58: Name '_TEMP_MYDATA_27CHARLONGXXXXXXXXXXX' is too long for a SAS name in this context.
You might also see the following error message when applying a filter opening a table with a long name in a pivot table:
"Table name" encountered error(s) while opening the results.
If your table name has more than 26 characters, this problem can occur when you apply a filter to the data before running your task or opening the table into a pivot table. When you apply the filter, the SAS Add-in creates a temporary table that adds _TEMP_ to the beginning of the name. In doing so, the resulting table name exceeds the maximum allowed length for SAS tables, which results in the error.
As a workaround, shorten your table name so that it has fewer than 26 characters.
