Usage Note 34440: Applying Hot Fix 311IS04 or later might cause an increase in WORK library disk space in SAS® IT Resource Management

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

After you apply Hot Fix 311IS04 or later you might notice that there is an increase in WORK library disk space in SAS® IT Resource Management. This is because prior to hot fix 311is04, the intermediate tables used in processing the aggregation transformation were stored in the same SAS library as the aggregation table. The aggregation transformation has been changed such that intermediate tables are created in the WORK library, thus allowing for a more predictable and identifiable permanent space requirement.

With Hot Fix 311IS04 applied, the SAS IT Resource Management aggregation transformation uses the WORK library for all intermediate data sets. As a result, existing SAS IT Resource Management users might notice an increase of demand for WORK library space, with an accompanying reduction in space requirements for data mart aggregations. However, this hot fix does not change the amount of space required to store the aggregation tables.

The nomenclature of these intermediate output tables conforms to the file type and metadata identifier of the output table. Hence, in the SAS Log, the output tables are assigned similar names, but with suffixes such as, _STAT, _FLT, _PRANK, _DRANK, _CLASSIDVARS, and _INDEXES. The only data that is stored in the aggregation libraries is the data for the respective aggregations. Also stored (for each aggregation) is a table of status information, which is used to control the aging of the aggregation. Formerly, this status information was stored in the metadata repository.
