Problem Note 33971: "Work Task Died" error when using the SAS® Scalable Performance Data Server® as an OLAP data source
If you use the SAS Scalable Performance Data (SPD) Server to surface data to an OLAP query, either in drill-through or as an aggregation table, you might encounter this error message:
Two SAS® OLAP Server settings can prevent this error; however, you might experience slower performance. The options are set in the Advanced Options dialog box, which is available on the SAS OLAP Server definition in SAS® Management Console:
- Expand the Server Manager plug-in.
- Expand your application server.
- Expand your logical OLAP server
- Right-click on your OLAP server definition and select Properties.
- Click the Options tab.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click the Server tab.
- Set the option Maximum number of region execution threads to a value of 1.
- Click the Query Thread Pool tab.
- Set the options for Minimum number of threads and Maximum number of threads to a value of 1.
- Click OK to close the Advanced Options dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
- Restart the OLAP server process.
Another alternative is to define the SPD Server library with the IP=NO option. This setting will cause the data to be processed by the SAS session instead of in the SPD Server environment.
