Problem Note 33971: "Work Task Died" error when using the SAS® Scalable Performance Data Server® as an OLAP data source

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If you use the SAS Scalable Performance Data (SPD) Server to surface data to an OLAP query, either in drill-through or as an aggregation table, you might encounter this error message:

Work Task Died

Two SAS® OLAP Server settings can prevent this error; however, you might experience slower performance. The options are set in the Advanced Options dialog box, which is available on the SAS OLAP Server definition in SAS® Management Console:

  1. Expand the Server Manager plug-in.
  2. Expand your application server.
  3. Expand your logical OLAP server
  4. Right-click on your OLAP server definition and select Properties.
  5. Click the Options tab.
  6. Click Advanced Options.
  7. Click the Server tab.
  8. Set the option Maximum number of region execution threads to a value of 1.
  9. Click the Query Thread Pool tab.
  10. Set the options for Minimum number of threads and Maximum number of threads to a value of 1.
  11. Click OK to close the Advanced Options dialog box.
  12. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
  13. Restart the OLAP server process.

Another alternative is to define the SPD Server library with the IP=NO option. This setting will cause the data to be processed by the SAS session instead of in the SPD Server environment.
