Usage Note 31627: Logs that can be used to troubleshoot the Phase 1 SAS® 9.2 (TS1M0) installations

DetailsAboutRate It

When you install SAS 9.2 (T21M0) on the Windows platform, several logs are created in the process. These logs can be sent to SAS Technical Support to help troubleshoot the installation if you encounter problems:

  • SAS setup log or installation log (for the SAS® Foundation installation)

The local users installation log is located in the !SASHOME directory (the default location is C:\Program Files\SAS):

For SAS 9.2 (TS1M0), also referred to as Phase 1, the file is called sassetup.log located in the following directory:

    !SASHOME\SASFoundation\9.2

  • SAS Adminstrator Wizard

The administrator's installation log is called sawsetup.log.

For SAS 9.2 (TS1M0), the sawsetup.log file for both a Client Users depot and a Personal Users depot is located in the following directory:

    C:\SAS Software Depot\products\sasinstall__9220__win__en__sp0__1\sas directory

  • For SAS 9.2 (TS1M0), the setinit.log file is located in the following directory:

    C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\

Note: Only created when you run the Renew SAS Software tool from one of the following locations:

    • Start ► Programs ► SAS ► SAS 9.2 Utilities ► Renew SAS Software.
    • C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\core\sasinst\sasrenew\sasrenew.exe
  • The System Requirements Wizard log, located in this directory:

    C:\Program Files\SAS\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\9.2\sysreqwizard_<date_installed>_<time_installed>.log.

    For example, sysreqwizard_02222008_121255.log.

Note: Several other logs, including the following, are stored in this central location.

    • Clientpss.log
    • Connectdrvrs.log
    • Grsgeditor.log
    • Inetmonitor.log
    • Nvworkshop_silent.log
    • Odbcdriver.log
    • Sasinstall_02222008_121423.log
    • Sasinstall_silent.log
    • Sasonlinedoc_silent.log
    • Sasuniviewer_silent.log
    • Sysreqwizard_02222008_121255.log
    • Ttfontsvert.log
    • Xmlatlas.log

Note: The contents of sasinstall_<date_installed>_<time_installed>.log and the sassetup.log file are almost the same. The sasinstall_<date_installed>_<time_installed>.log file is created first, followed by the sassetup.log file, which is located in the !sasroot directory.

  • For SAS 9.2 (TS1M0), there are several logs created in the SAS® Deployment Wizard directory:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\SAS\SAS Deployment Wizard

    • sdwprefs.txt: Contains the choices or preferences you used during the installation (for example, where the SASHOME directory resides). Here is a sample of what it might contain:
