Problem Note 30810: DBCS characters lost after copying SAS Report output from SAS® Enterprise Guide® into Microsoft Excel

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When copying SAS Report output from SAS Enterprise Guide and pasting it into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, DBCS characters might be lost. This can happen if you select the SAS Report output, select CTRL-C or right-click and choose Copy to copy the output, and then paste the output into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. When doing so, the DBCS characters will display as garbage characters in the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

Possible workarounds include the following:

  1. creating HTML output in SAS Enterprise Guide and copying and pasting the HTML output to Excel.
  2. while viewing the SAS Report output, select File -> Export -> Export SAS Report - task name and save the output as an HTML output. Then open the HTML file in Microsoft Excel.

Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
