Prepare for Renewal

  1. If necessary, extract the setinit file from your new SAS installation data file (sid.txt), as follows:
    1. Open your sid.txt file in a text editor.
    2. Copy the block of code from PROC SETINIT through SAVE; RUN;.
    3. Paste the code into an empty text file.
    4. Save this new file as setinit.sss.
  2. On the mid-tier machine:
    1. Stop the SAS Remote Services and the WebLogic Managed Servers (SAS Managed Server and SAS ODCS Server).
    2. Rename the existing setinit.sss to setinit.sss.old.
    3. Copy the new setinit.sss file to the location that you specified during the installation.
    4. This location must match the value of the SAS_SETINIT_LOCATION property in the SAS-CONFIG-DIR\soltnsmid.properties file.
In a Windows installation, the default location for the setinit file is: C:\SAS
In a UNIX installation, the default location is: /usr/local/SAS

  3. On the data tier machine, rename the existing sid.txt to sid.txt.old, replace it with the new file.
In a Windows installation, the default location for the sid.txt file is: !SASROOT\core\sasinst
In a UNIX installation, the default location is: !SASROOT/install/admin/sid
